ABOUT US

     We are Very Proud to be Chapter 3 of The United States War Dogs Association. Established in 2000 as a non-profit organization, which is made up of former and current U.S. Military Working Dog Handlers. Since the Association was formed, they have supported over 3,000 dog teams, sending over 16,000 care packages totaling over 125,000 pounds. The Association has played a major role in the passing of the MWD Resolution H.R. 5314 in Congress and also the Adoption Program of Retiring Military Working Dogs.
      
       Chapter 3 is a 501 (c) 3 Corporation. We are 100% non-profit and 100% of all donations goes towards the success of our objectives.


OUR OBJECTIVES


     EDUCATION; To bring the History of the U.S Military Working Dogs from all the Wars to the Public.

     SUPPORT;
          1
.  Support Service Dog Organizations such as Military Working Dogs, Police K-9 Units and Search and Rescue units.
          2.  Post Deployment Outreach for our Returning Troops.
         
 3.  Support Organizations and Programs that are supporting returning Troops with Therapy Dogs
 
       
K-9 ADOPTION;  Help in the process of adopting retiring Military and Police K-9s.

     
WAR DOG MEMORIALS; Help raising funds for War Dog Memorials.



MEET OUR EXECUTIVE BOARD


EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
     
       John Meeks served in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971 as a Scout Dog Handler. He was assigned to the 42nd Scout Dog Platoon with the 101st Airborne Division. He had attended Scout Dog School at Fort Benning, Georgia. When he arrived in Vietnam, he was assigned a German Shepard named Artus.
 Artus was an experienced dog, he had arrived in Vietnam in 1967 and John became in 6th handler. Artus was the only dog that John worked with in Vietnam. Artus was Killed In Action on Dec. 11,1970.



         

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR:

       Mary Wilborn-Rouse
is the President of Pals For Paws, Inc. For the past 13 years she has dedicated her life to rescuing homeless dogs.
Many of the dogs have required some major medical attention and countless hours of care. In the 13 years, she has found homes for over 12,000 dogs. Mary played a huge role in getting 'OPERATION' SUPPORT OUR PAWS off the
ground.
SECRETARY;

        Linda Ritchie
 is the Administrative Assistant at the Veterans Service Office in Howard County. She is also an Officer for the Disabled  American Veterans Auxillary. She is very dedicated to helping our Veterans.                 Linda is always there to help and volunteers a lot of her time in making our projects become a success.






TREASURER;
     


           Roberta "Birdie" Meeks and John have been together since 1969. She is very devoted to her family and her dogs.
She has spent many hours running errands, keeping track of merchandise, setting up and working at the chapter's shows.


          


DEDICATION

For how he had protected me, I would like to dedicate our Chapter and the work we do to "Artus"
